Dr. Jeanann Maguffin | D.P.T., M.S., O.C.S.

Dr. Jeanann Maguffin is the owner of Scoliosis Care Physical Therapy. She is a graduate of New York University's Physical Therapy program and holds an Advanced Master's degree in Orthopedic Medicine. Additionally, she earned a Post-Professional Doctor of Physical Therapy from Touro College.

Dr. Maguffin is certified as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) through the American Physical Therapy Association and was recertified in 2024. She has co-instructed cadaver dissection at Touro College for 17 years and serves as a guest lecturer on conservative management of scoliosis for physical therapy graduate students.

Dr. Maguffin also lectures on scoliosis and spine care at conferences and to community groups, sharing her expertise with both professionals and the public.

Jeanann Maguffin was instrumental in pioneering scoliosis-specific physical therapy on Long Island by opening the region’s first Schroth clinic. Her advanced expertise is reflected in her extensive training in multiple internationally recognized scoliosis treatment methods. She achieved the Schroth-Barcelona (BSPTS) C1 certification in November 2011, followed by the C2 certification in October 2013, demonstrating her advanced proficiency in the Schroth method. Her expertise extends further with advanced certification in the SEAS (Scientific Exercise Approach to Scoliosis) method in 2016, through the ISICO Institute in Italy. Jeanann trained directly under Michel Romano and Alessandra Negrini, the founders of the SEAS technique, which is widely practiced throughout Italy. 

Her commitment to professional development is evident in her completion of the Scoliosis World Masters Course through the ISICO Institute in 2024, deepening her knowledge in conservative scoliosis management. In addition, she received training in the Lyon Method for Scoliosis from Dr. Jean Claude DeMauroy, a renowned pioneer in international scoliosis education. Most recently, in October 2025, Jeanann completed a bridging class focused on the evolution and expansion of the Schroth method, ensuring she remains at the forefront of current research and treatment advancements. 

With over 30 years of clinical experience, Jeanann has received extensive training in spine care, temporomandibular joint dysfunction, orthopedic conditions affecting the limbs, hypermobility spectrum disorder, and dysautonomia (POTS). Her diverse background enhances her ability to provide effective treatment for patients with scoliosis and kyphosis. 

Jeanann specializes in personalized, one-on-one care for each patient, employing a skilled, comprehensive, hands-on approach. Her dedication to lifelong learning and incorporating new techniques is central to her practice.

Jeanann’s introduction of the Schroth Method to Long Island was inspired by outreach from “Curvy Girl” moms, a support group for girls with scoliosis. She considers it an honor and privilege to provide this specialized service to the community.
